Manley Duane Ellertson passed away on December 11, 2017 after a lengthy illness. Duane, as he was known, was born June 28, 1932 in Polk County, WI and grew up on the family farm. He graduated from Amery High School and then moved to St. Paul, MN. On October 11, 1952 he married Aemilia "Millie" at St. Adalbert's Church in St. Paul. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Korean Service Ribbon with the Bronze Service Star. Millie and Duane made their home in Oakdale, MN. Duane was very active with Oakdale Planning & Parks, Tree Board, and the Oakdale/Lake Elmo Historical Society, including the refurbishing of the Eder School House. His lifelong love of cars was evident in his work and his hobbies. Duane is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, daughter Linda (Sheldon) Edd of Rochester, MN, granddaughters Kelly (Chad) Keith of Steamboat Springs, CO, Missy (Mike) Hughes of Minneapolis, MN, Dr. Shannon Edd (Thomas Roos) of Lausanne, Switzerland, and great grandson Gus Keith. Memorial Mass Thursday (12/21) at 11am at TRANSFIGURATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 6133 - 15th Street N, Oakdale. Visitation 1 hour before Mass at church. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
