Obituary

Andrew Crawford, age 97, of Stoneham, formerly a long-time resident of Winchester, passed away on December 9, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the late Norma L. (Ahern) Crawford, to whom he was married for 42 years until her passing in 1989.

Born in Drimduth, County Donegal, Ireland, he was the son of the late Andrew J. and Elizabeth (Cassidy) Crawford. Andrew was raised and educated in Woburn and Burlington, and was a graduate of Woburn High School.

After high school, he worked on the family farm, Crawford Farm, in Burlington. He then went to the Police Academy and became a patrolman in the 1950’s. He was promoted to the ranks of Sgt. and then Lt. in Winchester, and then went on to be a Lt. Prosecutor in the Woburn District Court.

In his spare time, Andrew enjoyed walking around Horn Pond in Woburn and going to the gym. He was a member of the Masons and the Shriners International fraternal organizations. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather at the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Wed., Dec. 13 from 4-8 PM, and again on Thurs. at 9AM followed by a Funeral Service in the funeral home at 10AM. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Shriner’s Burns Institute 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
