SHIRLEY, MA - Mrs. Rose M. Brown, age 80, a former resident of Brown Street in Tewksbury, died peacefully Sunday afternoon, December 10, in the loving care of her family, after a brief battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife for fifty-two years of Edward D. Brown, who died in 2011.
She was born in Boston in July 1937, and raised in Chelsea. She graduated from Chelsea High School, and after her marriage continued to live there. She and Ed moved to Tewksbury in 1968 to raise their family, where she remained until moving to her daughter’s home in 2016.
In addition to raising her family, she worked at Liberty Mutual insurance company, later as a sales clerk at Stuart’s department store in Oakdale Mall in Tewksbury, and most recently as a sales associate at Home Depot in Tewksbury.
She was active in the Emblem Club, and was a Past President of the Saugus-Everett Emblem Club, Lodge 32, and had also served as a Girl Scout Assistant Troop Leader during her daughter’s teenage years.
Rose will be remembered for always having an extra space at her dinner table and her kindness and generosity, whether it was a stranger or a friend.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine M. Dushanek and her husband Richard E., Jr., with whom she resided in Shirley; two sons, Edward A. Brown and his partner Christopher Hoffman of Cornville, ME, Ryan M. Brown and his partner Wendy Perez of Woburn; a brother, Joseph P. Martinello and his wife Maureen of FL; a sister, Annette DiPaulo and her husband Paul of FL; a brother-in-law, Vernon M. “Mac” Brown and his wife Patricia of NM; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved feline friends, Angel and Boots.
She was also mother of the late Joseph Paul Brown who died in infancy.
Visiting hours Thursday, Dec. 14, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, Dec. 15, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
