McNIFF, Thomas A. Jr. of Winthrop, passed away on November 27, 2017. He was 77 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley E. (Piston) McNiff. Born in Boston, he was the cherished son of the late Thomas A. and Loretta M. (Glennon) McNiff Sr. Family and friends may gather at the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. WINTHROP, on December 13, from 9:30 to 10:30am before proceeding to the Holy Rosary Church 1015 Shirley St. Winthrop, for A Funeral Mass beginning at 11am. Cremation to follow the Mass will be private. Interment of cremated remains will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date. Thomas was a U. S. Air Force Veteran serving from 1957-1961. He worked as a free-lance reporter and had spent time in Eastern Europe. He was also employed by the Boston Globe as a writer and reporter.
