Arthur McDonald, 75, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, December 9, 2017, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Terry McDonald officiating. His brother, Bob McDonald, will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Friday evening at the funeral home as well as one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Mr. McDonald was born March 7, 1942, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Joseph Jackson & Gladys Mae Meaker McDonald. He worked as the chief inspector for Burgess Industries in Wichita Falls, Texas. He returned to Fitzgerald in 1984 and began working with his brother Bob as service manager at McDonald Appliance & Furniture. Mr. McDonald was the go-to person for any help with repairs or maintenance needs for friends and family. He was very dependable and always willing to help. He could work on any appliance or equipment. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Teri McDonald of Fitzgerald, children and their spouses: James Arthur McDonald of Louisville, Kentucky, Myrtis Ann (Chris) Pope of Abbeville, Richard Edward (Jody) McDonald of Louisville, Kentucky, Lena Michelle (Michael) Cribb of Wichita Falls, Texas, Rex Allen McDonald (fiance’ Nicole Van Ness) of Denton, Texas, Cathy Corbin Richburg of Huntsville, Alabama, Brenda Kay Corbin of Gainesville, Florida, Karen Corbin of Gainesville, Florida, and Kenny (Dana) Corbin of Old Town, FL; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bob (Betty) McDonald of Doerun and Guy Thomas (Bonnie) McDonald of Fitzgerald; two sisters: Betty Dee Wilson of Douglasville and Mary (Jerry Wayne) Griffin of Ocilla; as well as a host of nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Ann King and Donna Meeks McDonald; and a brother, Roy Jack McDonald.
