Raymond J. Tondreau Jr.
Manchester– Raymond J. Tondreau Jr., 80, died Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Elliot Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Raymond was born in Manchester, August 8, 1937 to Raymond J. Tondreau Sr. and Isabelle (Berry) Tondreau. He grew up in Manchester and graduated from Manchester Central High School in 1955 and Keene Teachers College in June 1962 where he earned his Bachelors of Education (Elementary Education). Raymond spent the next 30+ years teaching in various positions at Crotched Mountain School, Greenfield, NH; Manchester Central High School and the Manchester School of Technology. Raymond spent his life advocating for special education programs and student with special needs and his students loving remembered him as " Mr. T". Raymond was a compassionate individual who mentored and forever changed the lives of countless students throughout his career. Raymond developed and supported multiple vocational and specialized outreach programs within the state and was very involved with the NH Democratic Party platform and their causes over the years.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Elizabeth (Tondreau) Agrafiotis, and his life partner of 51 years, Richard French in 2010.
He is survived by his nieces, Lisa A. (Agrafiotis) Buchalski and Anastasia L. Agrafiotis, two nephews, Stephen M. Agrafiotis and Gregory J. Agrafiotis and three grand nieces, Catherine A. (Buchalski) Smith, Madyson A. Buchalski, and Katelynn Agrafiotis.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 10 am in Ste. Marie Church, followed by committal prayers in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
