New Bedford – Walter Lomba, age 82 of Westport, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Rosemary A. (Wood) Lomba and the son of the late Theresa (Paiva) and Antone Lomba.
Walter was born in New Bedford. He served in the U.S. Army and the Air Force. He worked as an Equipment Specialist for the U.S. Army for 37 ½ years until his retirement. Walter was an avid fisherman and sea kayaker.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his 2 children: Richard Anthony Lomba and his wife Debra of Virginia and Michele Lomba of Connecticut; 2 grandchildren: Angela Gillum of Indiana and David Lomba of Virginia; as well as 3 great-grandchildren. Walter was also the brother of the late Patricia Stinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made in Walter’s name to the Westport River Watershed Alliance, 493 Old County Rd, Westport, MA 02790
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.
