Obituary


Richard P. Monteforte, age 63, of Woburn formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully, November 29, 2017, at the West Revere Rehabilitation Center, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Michelle R. (Hayes) and together they shared 24 years of marriage. Born in Boston he was one of three children of the late Salvatore and Emma (Agresti) Monteforte.

"Rick", as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was raised in East Boston and graduated from the Everett Vocational High School where he studied and learned skills in automotive repair. Rick worked for many years as a truck driver and was a proud member of the Teamsters Union local 25 of Boston. Rick loved animals and especially enjoyed his pet rabbits April and June. He was a wonderful cook and will fondly be remembered by his family for his 'gravy' and many more culinary delights. He enjoyed listening to music and was a huge fan of the Beatles. However, one of his greatest passions was drag racing and being a hot rod car enthusiast. He was a member of the New England Drag Way Assoc. and was also a member of the Orientals Hot Rod Club of Reading where he had many dear friends that shared his love of racing and cars. Rick loved building and working on cars throughout his life.

In addition to his beloved wife, Rick is survived by his children, Gina Newton and her husband Jay of North Andover, Robert Monteforte of Everett, and Joseph Monteforte of Woburn. He was the loving Papa of Emma and Isla Newton. Brother of Michelle Paige of Lakeville and the late Robert Monteforte. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and dear friends in the auto and drag racing community.

A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Tuesday, December 5th, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Will be held on Monday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Rick's memory to the M.S.P.C.A., 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
