David Charles Gillaspy, 69 , former Anderson resident, died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Community Hospital South, Indianapolis, following a year long battle with bladder cancer.
He was born October 22, 1948 in Anderson, graduated from Anderson High School in 1966 and from Ball State University in 1970. He served in the US Army for 3 years. He was employed by the Anderson Public Library for 17 years as an accountant and retired in 2015.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Belinda K. Gillaspy, his 3 children; Mandy Webb, Sarah Jewell (husband Jeremy) and Jason Fair; his 5 grandchildren, Brandon Webb, Audrey Webb, Olivia Jewell, Norah Jewell, and Leiona Fair; his sister Charlene Bright (husband Terry) of Newport News, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ellen Gillaspy and his parents, Charles and Sara Gillaspy.
The family would like to thank the staff and physicians of Community South Cancer Center and the inpatient oncology unit.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Community South Cancer Center.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11 AM at Rozelle Johnson Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Glenn Knepp. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 2-6 PM.
