Lillian Catherine Johnson Bargeron, 89, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Bargeron at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2017, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Benjy Varnell will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday, November 24, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born August 10, 1928 in Clark County, Mrs. Bargeron was the daughter of the late, Ernest Holden Johnson and Willie Mae Tolbert Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles Thomas Bargeron, Jr. She and her husband operated Bargerons, Inc. in Tifton for over 35 years and was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Tifton, where she was a member of the Altar Guild. She loved traveling with her husband, buying antiques and porcelain for their shop. She played basketball in high school and continued to love watching basketball all through her life.
Mrs. Bargeron is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Diane Bargeron of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Ann Johnson Hobbs and husband, Nathan of Athens; two grandsons and their wives, Chuck and Lori Bargeron and Doug and Dondi Bargeron, all of Tifton; three great-grandchildren, Charlie Bargeron, Riley Bargeron and John Michael Bargeron; and her special caregiver and friend, Bobbie Campbell.
