Obituary

Robert (Bob) P. Jones, age 87 of Canton, passed away peacefully on November 19th at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. Born and raised in Brighton, MA, he graduated from Boston Technical High School, class of 1950. Misrepresenting his age, he served nearly five years in the Marine Corps Reserve. Called to active duty during the Korean Conflict he was assigned to the rifle range as an instructor at Camp Lejeune, NC. He attained the rank of sergeant during this period and was released from active duty in 1952. Shortly after returning home he began his apprenticeship as a pipefitter and was a retired member of Local 537. Sandwiched between his union membership, Bob was co-owner of Eastern Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in Canton, MA, and later ERA Sheet Metal Co. Inc.
Bob (affectionately called “Pa” by his loved ones) has been a Canton resident since 1970 and enjoyed surrounding himself with family in his home and by the pool. Among his favorite pastimes were the occasional wager at the race track, “discussing” the political landscape past and present or swapping stories and tales with his family and friends.
Beloved husband of the late Theresa “Sally” (Fox) Jones who he compassionately cared for through 15 plus years as an Alzheimer’s sufferer. He is survived by his four children, Robert P. Jr. (Bob) and his wife Sandi of Canton, Elizabeth (Betsy) Botsch and her husband Rick of Kingston, Tracy Mirabile and her husband Nick of Norwell, and Christopher of Canton; his nine grandchildren, Ricky Botsch and his wife Maria, Cortney Botsch, Meredith Botsch, Amanda Doucette and her husband Brian, Aimee Jones, Allison Jones, Zac Jones, Luke Jones, and Jake Jones; and his two great-grandchildren, Camden and Madelyn Doucette.
Visiting hours are at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St. Canton on Sunday, November 26 from 2-6 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service with Military Honors on Monday, November 27th at 12:00 pm at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton, followed by a celebration of his life at Brookmeadow Country Club in Canton.
