Maria Luigia Capobianco, of Somerville, and formerly of Gaeta, Italy, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, November 20th. She was 66.
Born in Gaeta, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giacinto "Aldo" and Marietta (Orticelli) Capobianco. At 19 years old, Maria came to the United States in 1970. She and her family made their home in Somerville, where she has lived for the last 47 years.
Maria worked as a seamstress at Pricilla of Boston. She retired in 2012 after 35 years of service. In her spare time, she loved being with her family and friends, and enjoyed collecting gadgets of all kinds.
Maria was the loving sister of Anna Manfredi and her husband Natale of Somerville, and the late Franco Capobianco and his late wife Concetta and his surviving wife Assunta Capobianco of Medford. She was the devoted aunt of Maria Capobianco and her fiancé Larry of Florida, Lisa Capobianco-Annello and her husband Joe of Billerica, Gianfranco Manfredi and his wife Kim of Tewksbury, Stefania Capobianco Vozzella and her husband Mike of Wakefield and the late Daniella Capobianco.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 27th at 11:30 AM in St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 179 Summer Street, Somerville. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, Monday, from 9 through 11 AM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove cemetery, Medford.
