Dartmouth – Deolinda Alves (Machado) Magalhaes, age 94 of Dartmouth, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at her daughter’s home. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel J. Magalhaes and the daughter of the late Maria DaConceicao (Alves) Ribeiro and Cristovao Alves Machado.
Deolinda came to the U.S.A. in 1970 where she moved to New Bedford, MA. She lived there until 2011, and then moved to Dartmouth to live with her daughter. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family at home.
She is survived by her sons, Antonio Magalhaes and his wife, Angelina of Portugal, Manuel C. Magalhaes and his wife, Olivia of new Bedford, Joao C. Magalhaes and his wife, Karen of New Bedford, Fernando Magalhaes and his wife, Hilda of Fall River, Alexandre Magalhaes and his wife, Judith of Freetown and Paul Magalhaes and his wife, Debbie of Freetown; her daughters, Grace Pereira and her husband, Matthew, Isaura Sousa and her husband, Walter and Margarida Charbonneau and her husband, John; siblings, Antonio R. Machado and Ernestina R. Goncalves; 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; as well as daughter-in-law, Doreen, widow of her late son, Manuel J. Magalhaes Jr. She was also the sister of the late, Maria, Aurora and Laurinda.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to Immaculate Conception Church, In Memory of Deolinda Magalhaes.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend her funeral services on Saturday morning and are respectfully asked to meet directly at the Immaculate Conception Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:15 A.M. Burial will immediately follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
