Florence I. Teixeira, 94

Dateline: Norton, MA

Florence I. “Flo” (Morris) Teixeira, age 94, of Norton passed away, with her loving family by her side, on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Morton Hospital in Taunton. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio R. Teixeira, to whom she was wed for over fifty years at the time of his death on July 31, 2000.

Born in North Dighton, MA on May 10, 1923, she was a loving daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Morris) Morris.

Flo grew up in North Dighton and was educated in Dighton public schools. She had made her home in Norton for the past sixty-eight years, and prior to retiring had worked for many years, as a waitress, at the former Polo Diner, a family owned and operated landmark on Taunton Ave. in Norton.

Mrs. Teixeira was a communicant of St Mary’s Church in Norton. Her family and home were the focal points of her life. She enjoyed camping, was quite knowledgeable on the subject of lawn care, had a green thumb for gardening, and a special love in her heart for animals.

She is survived by her devoted children Judith A. Lawson and her husband Lance of Attleboro, and Bruce A. Teixeira and his wife Holly of Norton. She was the cherished grandmother of Kirsten D. Carney and her husband John of Riverside, RI, and the great grandmother of Cassandra and Alexander. She was the dear sister of Virginia Booth and her husband Edwin of California, the aunt to many nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by 2 brothers and 5 sisters. She is also survived by her best friends “Mickey” and “Willy”.

Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will begin on Saturday, November 25th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at the Norton Center Cemetery in Norton.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 24th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Flo’s family would prefer that donations in her memory be made to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund, 1 Power St., Norton, MA 02766.
