Obituary


Harry K. Playdon, 89, of Derry, NH, died Saturday November 18, 2017 in Parkland Medical Center in Derry. He was born in Lawrence, MA on February 11, 1928 a son of the late Leon and Helen (Kent) Playdon. Mr. Playdon was raised and educated in Salem, NH where he was the captain of the Woodbury High School Football team. He also raised his family and worked for many years in Salem. He served our Country in the US Navy, and had a passion for life and the people in it. Mr. Playdon enjoyed working in the yard, and was known as a "Jack of All Trades". He enjoyed going to his grandchildren's ball games, loved watching sports, and was loved by anyone who knew or met him. Mr. Playdon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Sevigny) Playdon of Derry; two sons, Michael Playdon, and Gary Playdon; two daughters, Susan Theriault, and Sharon Wheeler; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and his sister, Melodie Playdon. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jack, Dottie, Bob, Marylou, Clifford, Richard, Anne, and Peter.

Following cremation, he will be buried in the NH State Veterans Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Donation Processing, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is assisting the family with arrangements.
