Obituary

Leonard Shaw Strickland, age 90, died at the Veterans Administration Medical Care Center in Brockton, Massachusetts, on Saturday, November 11, 2017. The cause was lung cancer.

Born October 27, 1921, in Mims Florida. Leonard attended Titusville High School and graduated in the class of 1945 as valedictorian of his class. He attended college, and was inducted in the armed forces of the USA from 1951 to 1953. After being honorably discharged he settled in Uniondale, NY, and began working in New York until his retirement. He was a supporter of the Southern Leadership Conference as well as the New York Masons. His regrettable illness compelled him to move to Massachusetts where The almighty God saw fit to call him home.

Survivors include his son Leonard Strickland, Jr., of California and his sister Elaine Boatwright of Florida, and a host of family and friends.

Services will be held at Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. West Roxbury on Monday November 27, 2017 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will be held in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
