Obituary

Our family mourns the passing of Evelyn Jean (Mackintosh) Miller, age 95, of Franklin, Mass. Jean died peacefully at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham on Friday, November 17, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Miller for 69 years who passed away in July 2014.

Born in Franklin, April 17, 1922 Jean was the daughter of the late Adam and Grace (Couthill) Mackintosh. She was the sister of the late Donald Mackintosh and the late Beverly Riley. She graduated from Franklin High School, Class of 1939 and from Wheelock College, Class of 1942.

The Town of Franklin will always remember her as "Mrs. Miller", assistant Children's Librarian, at the Ray Memorial Library from 1962 until her retirement in 1994. Her greatest joy as a librarian was to see parents bringing in their children, who came as children themselves as they were growing up.

Jean and her husband Ken, loved camping, spending many summers at Pinewood Lodge in Plymouth, Mass. They wintered in their home in Lillian, Alabama on the Gulf Coast. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano, Suduko puzzles, feeding and watching birds, Bingo, recycling , gardening and clipping "words of wisdom" from papers and magazines to share with others.

Jean was the loving mother of Stephen Miller and his wife Cheryl of Franklin, Janet (Miller) Robinson and her husband Charles of Foxboro, and Douglas Miller and his wife Catherine of Wrentham. She leaves her sisters-in-law, Dona Mackintosh and Florence Miller of Franklin. She was the adored Grandmother of Jennifer, Alyson, Kevin, David, William, Kirsten, Bridget, Lauren, and Adam. She was Great Grandmother to Aidan, Ethan, Shae, Tyler, Max and Kathryn. Jean also leaves many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Jean's greatest gift to her family is to embrace Life; the beauty of a sunrise or sunset, the adventures to be found in reading, the power of a smile, the laughter of children, the gentleness of a hug, the warmth of sunshine, the tears of joy or sadness, the joy in the love of Family. She may be gone from our lives, but will live forever in our hearts.

Calling hours will be on Monday November 20th at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street, Franklin, Mass. (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) from 4 to 7 pm.
