Obituary

John Louis Beddia, 89, of Englewood, FL went to be with the Lord on November 15, 2017. He was married to his beloved wife, the late Barbara Ann (Breedon) Beddia for 67 years.

John was born September 7, 1928 to his parents, Salvatore Beddia and Lena (Guglia) Beddia. He was the brother of Frances Beddia Flynn and her husband John. While residing in Brockton and Rochester, MA, John was an active member of the Covenant Congregational Church and Brockton Assembly of God, serving as a deacon for many years. After retiring to Florida with his wife, he joined Westcoast Church of Englewood, FL where he also served as a deacon. John was known for his love and faithfulness to God and family, his inner strength, and his wonderful wit.

John, who was a World War II veteran, enlisted and served his country in the U.S. Navy as a quartermaster third class. A graduate of Wentworth Institute, he was a skilled machinist. John was employed as a supervisor at Jarrell Ash Company and later, Fisher Scientific in Waltham, MA. He enjoyed Italian food and music, gardening, spending time at the beach, studying his Bible, and playing games. Family and friends may best remember John for his life-long friendships, his wisdom and advice when needed, and his vast knowledge and talent for repairing any item that needed his attention.

He was a loving father to Stephen Beddia and his wife Susan, Sandra and her husband Alton Douglass, Sharon and her husband Phillip Wardner, Susan and her husband Darren Hall, the late Scott Beddia and his wife Diane, Sheila Sherwood, and Rev. John Beddia and his wife Janet. John was very proud of his grandchildren, Tracy Orphanos, Joseph Hume, Cheri Dame, Kelly Wardner, Scott Wardner, Lori Cochrane, Jacob Hall, Jessica Cutliffe-Hall, Nicole Epolito, Danielle Stewart, Timothy Beddia, Crystal Sherwood, Heather Mullen, Johnathen and Dawson Beddia, his nineteen great-grandchildren, and his one great-great grandchild. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

His family welcomes loved ones and friends to the visiting hours on Sunday November 19, 2017 from 2-6 pm at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123), Brockton, MA. There will be a funeral service on Monday, November 20 at 10am at the Brockton Assembly of God Church at 199 Warren Avenue, Brockton, MA. Internment will follow at the Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s name to the Brockton Assembly of God/Building Fund, 199 Warren Avenue, Brockton, MA.
