Doris M. (Sherrick) Shaw, a lifelong Charlestown resident, entered into eternal life on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at her daughters home in Lee, New Hampshire. She was 91 years of age.
Doris was born in Boston on February 1, 1926, a daughter of the late Frank Sherrick and Alva (Kennedy) Sherrick. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1944. Doris worked as a Secretary for over 20 years for Pioneer Fund in the financial district in Boston. Doris was a lifelong member and Deaconess of The First Church In Charlestown (Congregational) where she was also active for many years in church activities and affairs especially running the dinners for the Masonic Lodge. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association. She enjoyed knitting, reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Doris is the beloved wife of the late Norman H. Shaw Jr. She is the devoted mother of Sandra and Allen Weagle of Searsmont, Maine, Terry and Deborah Shaw of Wynantskill, New York, David and Lori Shaw of Tyngsboro, Laura Shaw of Lee, New Hampshire, Ruth and James Casavant of West Warwick, Rhode Island, Paula and Dan Melaugh of Lee, New Hampshire and the late Joanne Turner, Richard Shaw, Frank Shaw and Russell Shaw. She is the loving Grandmother to 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of Robert Sherrick and his wife Annie of Milford, Connecticut and predeceased by her 5 other siblings. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Doris's Funeral Service on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 11 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Her visiting hours will be on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
