Lennon Copeland, 92, of Tifton passed away Monday November 13, 2017 at Cypress Pond Assisted Living in Tifton. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Funeral Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Copeland will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Copeland’s family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Born September 8, 1925 in Tifton, Mr. Copeland was the son of the late Osborne Carl Copeland and Pearl Simmons Copeland. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Nell Brogdon Copeland, who passed away February 6, 2015. Before retiring, he was an insurance executive with Cotton States Insurance Company and a member of New River Baptist Church in Tifton. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II and was a Shriner and a Mason. He loved fishing and golf.
Mr. Copeland is survived by his children and grandchildren, son John Copeland, wife Jackie and son Carl of Jupiter, Florida, daughter Lynn Copeland and partner Jean Toole of Avondale Estates, son Tim Copeland, wife Sandra and children Carlie and Madison of Monroe and son Chris Stanford, wife Carla and children, John Griffin and Minnie of Decatur; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Glenda Johnson of Pine Mountain, Patsy and Gene Maddox of Cairo, Betty Keith of Omega and Reba Reid of Jacksonville, Florida.
