Obituary

BEDFORD: Colonel Jack Dexter Fisher, United States Air Force Retired, 78, died at his residence in Bedford on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.
He was born on August 16, 1939 in Norwood the son of the late Gilman Fisher and Rose E. (Bashford) Fisher.
Jack is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 57 years, Joyce (Parker) Fisher of Bedford, formerly of Cochituate. He was the Father of Marianne LaPlante and her husband Donald LaPlante of Hillsborough, NH; Randy G. Fisher and his wife Agnes Fisher of Ayer; Pam Fisher Harty and her husband Ron Harty of Bensalem, PA and Wayne Fisher and his wife Jen Fisher of Billerica. Grandfather of Jonathan O’Hara and his fiancé Kerry Wulpern; Carsyn Fisher; Parker Fisher; Liam Fisher; Kyle Harty; Ryan Harty; Nina Harty; Brad Fisher and Abby Fisher. Great-grandfather of Jameson O’Hara. Brother of Joanne MacConnell of Ossipee, NH and Tim Hoey of Upton. Also survived by his cousins, Nancy Brown and her husband Walter Brown of Framingham; Helene Harrington and her husband William Harrington of Southborough and Lucille Braithwaite and her husband Tom Braithwaite of VA.
Jack has been a resident of Bedford for the past 19 years and previously resided in Natick and Cochituate. He graduated from Natick High School with the Class of 1957 and received his BS in Mathematics and Economics from Brown University in Rhode Island. Colonel Fisher received his Masters in Engineering and Communications from the Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton, Ohio.
Colonel Fisher had a long and distinguished career in the United States Air Force. He served during the Vietnam Era and Desert Storm. For 11 years, he served as the Commander of Troops in Saudi Arabia. Colonel Fisher was a Consultant with Odyssey for over 21 years at Hanscom Air Force Base prior to his retirement.
He was devoted to his wife and family and will be fondly remembered by them. He also enjoyed tracing his family’s geneology.
Visitations will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte. 30), Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Private family services with full military honors will be held at the Parker-Fisher family lot in Lakeview Cemetery.
His family kindly suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Colonel Fisher’s memory be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
