Obituary

FRANKLIN: David F. DeBaggis, 68, of Franklin, died Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Seasons Hospice Home in Milton, following an extended period of failing health. He was the husband of Susan M. (Valiquette) DeBaggis.

Born in Newton, October 25, 1949 a son of the late Anselmo V. and Irene J. (Chiodetti) DeBaggis, he was raised and educated in Franklin and was a 1967 graduate of Marian High School in Framingham.

David was a skilled carpenter having worked for many years with Carpenter’s Union Local 535 in Norwood. Later in life he worked as a telemarketer with ultimate Chimney Sweep Co.

He proudly served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War. Assigned to the Seebees, he served in Viet Nam during the early days performing many construction projects. He attained the rank Builder/ construction mate E-3. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Viet Nam service medal, the Viet Nam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in December 1970.

David enjoyed time spent with family, movies and computers.

Surving in addition to his wife are 2 sons: David A. DeBaggis and his wife Susanne of Douglas, Adam P. DeBaggis of Peabody, a daughter: Rebecca A. Lavergne and her husband Christopher of Uxbridge, 3 brothers: Paul M. DeBaggis and his wife Lauren of Franklin, Henry P. DeBaggis and his wife Jean of Wrentham, Gregory J. DeBaggis and his wife Diann of Franklin, a stepson: John R. Zhawred of N. Smithfield, RI, a stepdaughter Lisa M. Bouchard of Cumberland, RI, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Wednesday at 10:15 AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. with a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church 1 Church Sq. at 11AM. Internment with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:45 PM.

Calling hours are Tuesday 4-8PM.
