Obituary

WORCESTER - In the early morning hours of Saturday, November 11, 2017, Catherine D. (Noonan) Corriere passed away peacefully in her beloved home of 55 years, with her loving family at her bedside. She was 89. Born and raised in the West End of Boston, Catherine was one of 7 children born to Patrick J. and Beatrice E. (Doherty) Noonan.

Catherine attended Boston schools and met her future husband, Joseph B. Corriere following school. She and her husband lived several years in Boston before Joseph’s job relocated them to Worcester. Their family continued to grow as they settled into their new home town. Joe worked days so Catherine could raise their children and she began working the overnight shift as a nursing assistant at local Worcester hospitals, and continued to work in that capacity until her retirement from the former Hahnemann Hospital.

Catherine was devoted to her children and later to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The highlight of any day was being able to see any of them and share stories and offer her support and wisdom. A woman with strong faith based in the Catholic traditions, Catherine was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Parish in Worcester for more than 50 years. She was also a member of the Emblem Club, # 51 in Worcester. She loved animals of any kind, always open to bringing in the stray cat or a new family dog. She also enjoyed all the seasonal birds that visited her back yard.

She will be missed greatly and forever loved by her five children, Linda A., Joseph P. and Maryellen Corriere, all of Worcester, Daniel P. Corriere and his wife, Deana of Virginia Beach, VA and Nancy J. Corriere of Goldsboro, NC; her six grandchildren and her six great grandchildren. She was sadly predeceased by her youngest daughter, Amy Beth for whom she had a special place in her heart, as well as her 6 siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Catherine’s family on Wednesday, November 15th from 4-7 p.m. at the CALLAHAN, FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, November 16th from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. She will then be laid to rest with her beloved husband and daughter at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
