Obituary

Marguerite “Peggy” (Prouty) DeChambeau, 89 of Hanson, formerly of Whitman and Brockton passed away peacefully at home November 4, with her loving family by her side. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ted DeChambeau.

She leaves behind her four children,Fred DeChambeau and his wife Noreen of Bridgewater, Ed DeChambeau and his companion Patricia Simmons of Marston Mills, Cathy DeChambeau and her husband Benoit Cameron of Montreal Quebec and Cindy Rogers and her husband Tom of Hanson. She also leaves behind her sister Marilyn Grenno of East Bridgewater, Rose Farwell and her husband Bill of Brockton and a brother John Prouty of Arizona. She is also survived by her grandchildren Chris DeChambeau, Lisa Flynn , Jeff DeChambeau, Tommy, Danny and Lauren Rogers and her great grandchildren Donna, Colin, Reagan, Aidan, Owen, Jackson and Oliver as well as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Wilfred, Joseph and Richard Prouty and Janet Davis

Peggy was a redheaded high spirited woman with a great sense of humor. She was outgoing and very sociable. When she met her husband, her father warned him that she had “fire in her eyes”!

Peggy was a talented homemaker & seamstress. She made all of her children’s clothes, made her husband a suit & created slipcovers and curtains. She also quilted beautiful blankets, which she gave away to her family. She celebrated every holiday by decorating her home with the handmade ceramic’s she made in class.

Peggy was a fabulous cook and had many dinner parties and cookouts at her home. She was a member of the mothers club of Whitman and was a Boy Scout den mother.

Peggy loved her weekends with her husband at Cape Cod. She also enjoyed outings with the seniors club of Whitman and she traveled to the Caribbean and Canada with her husband. Peggy was in avid reader and after she lost her vision she really enjoyed her talking books provided by the Perkins School for the blind.

After her children were grown she worked in the food service industry her favorite job was as a cook and a bartender at the Sunset Grove.

Her funeral services will be held Thursday November 9th at 6:00PM in the Blanchard funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (Rte 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held on hour prior to her service from 5:00-6:00PM.
