Obituary

BRECKENRIDGE, CO - Eric Paul Dube, 30, of Breckenridge, Colorado and a former longtime resident of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Home on Friday, November 3, 2017. He passed suddenly from an unknown heart condition while Mountain Biking on the Captain Ahab ~ Amasa Back Trail in Moab, Utah. Eric was born in Holyoke on September 26, 1987, a beloved son of Lisa M. (Roda) Dube of Fairview and Leo P. Dube of Wilbraham. He was raised in Fairview, graduated in 2005 from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and lived in Chicopee for many years before moving to Breckenridge, Colorado in 2011. Eric attended Holyoke Community College and, in 2011, he graduated from American International College in Springfield with a Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy. Following his graduation, Eric moved to Breckenridge, Colorado and was employed as a Licensed Physical Therapist for Howard Head Sports Medicine. It is impossible not to picture the bright and beautiful smile of Eric greeting you in the morning, most likely wired on coffee. For those who knew Eric, you knew he had the largest and most generous heart of anyone you knew. Tragically, this great big heart of his had a hidden nasty secret which was heart disease. While mountain biking that evening, Eric's heart stopped not for lack of love he had for his family and friends nor his passion for helping people or doing a sport he loved but because of a nasty disease not even he knew about. With such a terrible loss of a son, brother and friend, he went out on top. He passed while doing the sport he loved with the people he loved and those who loved him. For his family and friends and even the lucky stranger on the street, his giant hugs, laughter, smile and absolute amazing personality will be forever missed. Eric seized every day as an avid outdoorsman, a passionate mountain biker and enjoyed camping, hiking and skiing. He will always be remembered for his vision and creativity in bike art and woodworking. He was also a Physical Therapist for the USA Men’s and Women’s Snowboard Cross Team and was slated to attend the Winter Olympics in February of 2018 in South Korea. Besides his parents, Eric leaves his loving brother and best friend, Ryan M. Dube of Breckenridge, CO; his loving sister and confidant, Danielle A. Dube of Franklinton, NC; his loving step-mother, Carol A. Dube of Wilbraham; his loving maternal grandmothers, Claire Roda of Chicopee and Jean Kochman of California; his loving step-father, Marc R. Davignon of Chicopee; his loving step-sisters, Amy Thouin and her husband, Dale, and Marcie Davignon, all of Chicopee; his cherished nephew and niece, Corey Thouin and Hailee Thouin, both of Chicopee; and his many dear uncles, aunts, cousins and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his loving brother, Todd Michael Dube who was Called Home on July 5, 2012; and his loving grandparents, Paul and Leda Dube and Joseph and Dorothy Mularski.
