Walter L. “Butch” Bump, Jr., 76, of Bridgewater, passed away Saturday November 4th in the Good Samaritan Medical Center, after a period of failing health. He was the loving husband of Joan C. (Brandenburg) Bump, for 54 years.
He was born in Brockton, son of the late Walter L. and Clara (MacDonald) Bump, Sr.
Walter served his country, in the United State Army From 1959-1961. He was the Co-Owner with his sons of Inline Fence, Inc.
He was an active member of Wheels of Time Car Club; also a member of the Union Congregational Church in East Bridgewater and the Bridgewater Citizens Club. Walter has been a resident of Bridgewater for the past 50 years.
In addition to his wife Joan, he is survived by his sons Walter L. Bump, III, Kenneth A. Bump, David E. Bump and his daughter Carla J. Sousa; also his grandchildren, Adrienne, Joey, Ashley, Walter, IV, Lauren, Wayne and Elizabeth, his great grandchildren, Ryan, Jackson and Aryk, brother of Steve and Bruce Bump, Betty Lou Maliff, Eleanor Condon, many nieces and nephews.
His funeral services will be held on Thursday November 9th at 11:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visitation will be on Wednesday November 8th from 4-8
