Obituary

Leonard S. French 84, of Franklin, passed away on November 2, 2017 at Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Stank) French, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

Born April 14, 1933 in Upton, a son of the late James and Mary (Sadler) French, he was a longtime Franklin resident.

He was raised and educated in Upton and also attended Worcester State College.

Lenny was a businessman in the town of Franklin and was also the owner of Maplegate Country Club in Bellingham, which he built with his family in 1990.

He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Franklin Country Club Hall of Fame.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael J. French, Sally J. Winters and Julie A. Evans and her husband Joseph all of Franklin, & a sister Brenda A. Thompson of Upton.

He was the loving grandfather of Amanda French-Greenwood, Leonard French, Peter French, Ian Winters, Sarah Winters, Katie D’Amelio, Matthew D’Amelio, Anna Evans and his great grandchildren, Michaela Caroline Greenwood and Griffin French Greenwood.

Lenny was the grandfather of the late Caroline D’Amelio.

His services will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Leonard French can be made to the Hockomock Area YMCA’s Reach Out For Youth and Families Campaign at Hockomock Area YMCA Attn: Tulika Verma 300 Elmwood St. North Attleboro, MA 02760.
