Obituary

Kelley, Hugh James of Wellesley passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on November 1, 2017. Beloved husband to his wife of 42 years, Linda (Mann) Kelley, and devoted father to his sons, Gregory, Timothy and his partner Laura and their daughter Sadie, and David and his wife Stephanie.
 
Born at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston to Hubert J. Kelley and Barbara R. Kelley. Eldest of four siblings: Donald Kelley and Peter Kelley, both of Wellesley, MA, and Barbara Kelley of Pasadena, CA.
 
Hugh attended Wellesley public schools through junior high and graduated from St. Sebastian’s in 1965 and from Harvard in 1969, where he was also Varsity Hockey Manager.
 
Hugh continued his profession as a real estate appraiser, working with his father until 1989, then running his own business until his death. He appraised several thousand properties throughout eastern Massachusetts over the years. Hugh was also on the Board of Directors of Wellesley Bank for 28 years.
 
As a youth, Hugh played baseball for Wellesley Little League and later coached all three sons in the same league. Subsequently, he was on the Wellesley Little League Board as Commissioner of the Miles Page Division. He was also a religious education teacher at St. John’s Church in Wellesley. Hugh regularly performed as a Marshal at Harvard Commencement.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) Wellesley, on Monday Nov. 6 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, 9 Glen Rd. Wellesley at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-7pm. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Milford. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Hugh's memory to the Jimmy Fund online at jimmyfund.org/gift.
