Obituary

Cormican, Michael W. age 53, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. He was born in Boston and grew up and lived most of his life in Dorchester. Michael was actively involved in the Special Olympics over the years since the inception of the program, both as an athlete in a variety of the sports competitions and as an organizer and supporter. He is a member of Special Olympics Massachusetts Hall of Fame and a recipient of Boston Celtics "Hero Among Us Award ". He was an employee of Morgan Memorial and a member of the Delta Masonic Lodge in Braintree. The devoted son of the late Joseph and Helen (Rogers) Cormican, he is survived by his dear sisters and brothers; Helen A. Fredholm of Braintree, Catherine A. and Donna M., both of Dorchester, Joseph C., Jr. of Millis, Paul F. of Braintree, James P. of Milford, and Robert L. Cormican of Everett. Michael leaves many loving nieces & nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark Church, 1725 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester Friday morning, November 3, 2017 at 10 am. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm. Burial will be in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Dorchester Special Athletes, 569 Gallivan Blvd. Dorchester, MA 02124.
