Obituary

SPRINGFIELD - Patricia A. "Pat" (Brown) Fairbanks, 86, a longtime resident of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, passed into Eternal Life on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield on July 15, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Peter J. and Agnes (Sullivan) Brown. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the former Technical High School and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. Pat furthered her education at the former Springfield Hospital School of Nursing. Following her graduation, she was employed for 44 years as a dedicated Registered Nurse at Baystate Medical Center. She retired in 1995 to care for her husband, Dick, during his long illness. Pat was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting and furniture refinishing. Most especially, she enjoyed spending time with her family in Wells, Maine. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard C. "Dick" Fairbanks, Sr. on August 26, 2004. They were married on April 18, 1953 at the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield. She was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. She leaves her four devoted children, Ann A. Robar and her husband, Peter, of Kennebunk, ME, Joan M. Treiber and her husband, Brian, of Suffield, CT, Patricia A. D'Amario and her husband, Peter, III, of Springfield and Richard C. Fairbanks, Jr. and his wife, Christina, of Enfield, CT; her nine cherished grandchildren, Andrew Robar and his wife, Caitlin, Kevin Robar and his fiancée, Lauren Nelson, Elizabeth Sauter and her husband, Alex, Margaret Treiber and her fiance, Jared Hall, Alexander Treiber, Peter "PJ" D'Amario, IV, Annemarie D'Amario, Paige Fairbanks and Ryan Fairbanks; her cherished great-grandson, Declan Robar; her three sisters-in-law, Teresa Brown, Sylvia Fairbanks and Beatrice Brodeur; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended members of the Fairbanks and Brown families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her two dear brothers, Edward "Scotty" Brown and Peter Brown, Jr. Her funeral will be held on Saturday morning, November 4, 2017 beginning from the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
