Obituary

George Cleveland Free III, 71, of Tifton went home to be with the Lord at 3:16 a.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2017, at his residence. A private service and burial will be held for Mr. Free at a later date.

John 3:16: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Born October 22, 1946 in Moultrie, Mr. Free was the son of the late George Free Jr. and Martha Powell Free. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Christine Bryan Free, who passed away on February 29, 1996 and to whom he was married for 23 years. He graduated from Doerun High School in 1965; and from Moultrie Vo Tech in 1972. Before retiring in 1998, he was manager of Baker Brothers, Inc. in Tifton. He served in the United States Army from 1967-1970 and was a member of American Legion Post #21 and Post #243 in Doerun. He was also a member of Grace Baptist Church in Doerun.

Mr. Free is survived by his caregiver and friend and her husband, Lisa and Roy Sheller of Tifton, who took George into their home on December 15, 2016; and three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Martha sue and John Seigler of Loganville, Sally Coppage of Jacksonville, Florida and Julia and George Carter of Madison, Indiana.
