Obituary


William J. Kenney, a longtime Woburn resident passed away peacefully, October 21, 2017, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading following a period of declining health. He was 97 years of age. William was the beloved husband of the late Annelore H. (Hach) Kenney. Born in Charlestown, where he was raised and educated, he was the son of the late Kieran and Mary (Foley) Kenney.

Mr. Kenney honorably served for 26 years in the United Sates Army and was a proud Veteran of both WWII and the Korean War. Following his retirement from the Army he worked for many years as a Civil Service Electrician at Hanscom Air Force Base. Mr. Kenney enjoyed working around his home and over the years he enjoyed spending a lot of time in Germany with his wife and her family. He was a talented musician and enjoyed entertaining with harmonica play. However, his greatest joy was his grandchildren, who made him so proud with their many accomplishments. William was also a life member of the Woburn Elks.

In addition to his late wife, William is sadly predeceased by his sisters, Katherine Fitzpatrick and Mary McCarthy, brothers, Patrick, James and Kieran Kenney.

He is survived by his daughters; Julie Kennedy and her husband Bill of Derry, NH, Diane Giamberardino and her husband Tony of Wilmington. He was the loving grandfather of Sean Kennedy, Laura Pezone and her husband Michael, Andrew Giamberardino and his wife Whitney, Brian, Michael, and Daniel Giamberardino.

A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, November 2nd, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
