DARTMOUTH — Evelyn Frances Anderson, age 97 years, of Dartmouth, died Friday October 20, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility.
Daughter of the late Rev. Uel and Sarah (Childs) Anderson, she was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and Kinyon Business School.
For many years, she was employed by the Aetna Insurance Company of New Bedford from 1939 to 1976 when she retired.
A member of the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth, she was a former member and clerk of the First Baptist Church in New Bedford.
Evelyn was an avid bowler in the Nonquitt Bowling league and enjoyed collecting recipes and traveling.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Barbara Backus, and two nephews Stephen and Andrew Backus. Survivors include Carol J. Backus, widow of Stephen, a great nephew Sean B. Backus, a great niece Kathleen A. McGarry and a great great nephew Owen McGarry.
Her graveside service will take place on Friday October 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the South Dartmouth Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St. New Bedford.
