Kenney, William P. (Bibby/Billy/Big Billy/Uncle Billy/Grampy) of Naples, Florida, formerly of Brookline, West Roxbury and Westwood, passed away peacefully on October 24 with his loving wife Patricia and daughter Marie beside him, following an illness. Billy was a Marine Corps veteran, serving proudly in Okinawa, Japan and in the Philippines. Following military service, he was appointed to the Boston Police Department in 1964 where he proudly served the City of Boston for 39 years until his retirement in 2002. Billy is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Patricia “Patsy” Kenney (formerly Banks) and his cherished children William P., Jr. of the Massachusetts State Police and daughter Marie Gilroy and her husband Mark of Bremen, Georgia. Also by his grandchildren Ashley Kenney, Amanda Gilroy, Molly Gilroy and Mark Gilroy, Jr. Also, Billy leaves his brother George Kenney of West Roxbury. Billy joins his deceased brothers and sisters Joseph, Kay Walsh, Helen Pepe, Mary Kenney, Robert, James and John in eternal peace. Also survived by many loving brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY on Monday October 30, at 9:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
