Obituary

NEW BEDFORD — Charles F. Eades of South Dartmouth died on October 13, 2017 after a short period of declining health due to Parkinson Disease. Born in Boston, he was the son of Dr. Marion F. and Charlotte P. Eades.

He grew up in Newton, and was educated at Rivers Country Day, and held degrees from Bowdoin College and Boston University, School of Medicine. He had a long career as practicing Obstetrician and Gynecologist that included twenty-five years of loyal service to Harvard College serving as Teaching Fellow, Clinical Assistant and Clinical Instructor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harvard Medical School. He served Massachusetts Institute of Technology for 32 years, retiring in 1995 as Chief of their Obstetrics and Gynecology Medical Department. He belonged to Massachusetts Medical Society, American Medical Society, Obstetrical Society of Boston and was a Fellow of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

He served 6 years in the Army Reserve, a commissioned Captain, and was a member of the Rivers School corporation.He was a member of the Wamsutta Club and The Luncheon Club. He loved woodworking, fishing, writing and gardening.

He leaves his wife of 27 years, Anne Doyle Eades, step-daughters Ashley Doran of Austin, Texas, Sarah Doran of Framingham, Katie Dunn of Center, Texas,Elizabeth Ward of Harleton, Texas, sister Susan Corcoran of New York, three nieces, Elise,Pamela and Laura, as well a nine well loved grandchildren.
