Obituary

Joseph Roland Lanouette, 94, a resident of Windham NH since 2014, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. Joe, or Roland as he was known to his family, was born on Crescent Street, in Lawrence MA on June 2, 1923. He was the eighth child in a family of 14 children born to Joseph Charles and Alice (Michaud) Lanouette. Joe attended St. Ann's Elementary School in Lawrence, MA. He graduated from Central Catholic after attending Lawrence High. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army from 1943-1945. He served overseas for 24 months in the European Theater of Operations as a member of the 482nd Military Police Escort Guard Company. He was honorably discharged and received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal. Joe was a member of the former St. Ann's Parish in Lawrence. He resided in the town Middleboro, MA for over 50 years. He retired in 1980 from the Department of Corrections, Massachusetts Correctional Institution in Bridgewater where he was a guard. He was a Lifetime Member of The Elks of Middleboro, MA #1274. Joe enjoyed sports. He was an avid fan of golf both as a participant and as a spectator. His favorite spectator sports were football and baseball. He is survived by his sister, Pauline and her husband Albert Gagne of Salem, NH, sister-in-law Alice Lanouette of Milford, CT, two grandsons, Christopher and Chad Naffah, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Roland was predeceased by his daughter Theresa Naffah and his son, Michael Lanouette. He was also predeceased by two brothers, George Lanouette and Roger Lanouette, and eight sisters, Lillian Ouellette, Anita Moreau, Evelyn Goulet, Lucille Moquin, Jeannette Lanouette. Sister Theresa Lanouette S.C.I.M., Yvonne Gagne, and Doris Lambert.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Friday October 27 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Edgar J. Racicot Inc. Funeral Home, 1400 Broadway Rd. Dracut. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday October 28 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish St. Theresa Church in Methuen. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
