Obituary

John R. DiIorio, age 88 of Raynham, passed away on October 19, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Anita M. (Bennett) DiIorio.

John was born in Providence, RI, a son of the late Pasquale and Maria (Troiano) DiIorio.


Before retirement, John was employed with the US Navy both at Quonset and at Groton Base as a supply clerk handler. Mr. DiIorio served his country with the Army from 1951-1953. He was a member of the American Legion, he enjoyed golf, traveling and loved to dance. He was also a NY Yankee fan. Most of all he was a loving and caring person who was devoted to his family.


Besides his loving wife Anita of over 29 years, he is survived by step children, Mark McLeod of Rochester, MA, Robert Scott McLeod of Taunton, Joyce Kelly of Lakeville, Pamela Almeida of Raynham, Donna Kelly of West Virginia and Lisa McLeod of Berkley. He was also the brother of Angela Cipolla of Johnston and Yolanda Ricci of North Providence, grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of many. John was the grandfather of the late Timothy A. Nolette, and brother of the late Michael and Vincent DiIorio and the late Irma Pugliese.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, MA. Interment with military honors will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 24th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Silva Funeral Home. (Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home).
