Janet A. Cluff
Owner of Suburban Heating & Plumbing of Tewksbury, Inc.

TEWKSBURY: Janet A. (McCormack) Cluff, age 83, a lifelong Tewksbury resident and communicant of St. William’s Parish, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.

She was the beloved wife of Richard E. Cluff, Sr., who passed away on January 29, 2003.

Born in Boston on January 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John F. McCormack, Sr. and the late Edith (Marion) McCormack.

Janet attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Keith Hall in 1951. Following high school, she attended Salem State College.

She and her late husband owned and operated Suburban Heating & Plumbing of Tewksbury, Inc., a local company which was founded in 1947 by Janet’s father.

Prior to her illness, she was a daily communicant of St. William’s Parish, where in earlier years she performed in minstrel shows, and was a member of the Ladies Sodality.

During her retirement, Janet enjoyed playing golf and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by three children, Daniel T. Cluff, Sr. and his wife Nancy J. (Tremblay), of Townsend, Andrea J. Ellis, of California, and Neal L. Cluff, of Lowell; five grandchildren, Kerri L. Taylor, Abigail M. Ellis, Scott D. Cluff, Daniel T. Cluff, Jr., and Walter F. Ellis; two great grandchildren, Kira E. and Brooklyn C. Taylor; siblings, Gerald E. McCormack and Meredith L. (McCormack) Cohen, both of Tewksbury; many nieces, nephews, and extended family members including her sisters-in-law, Mary Santos of NH, and Carolyn McCormack of FL.

Janet was the mother of the late Richard E. “Earl” Cluff, Jr., sister of the late John F. “Jack” McCormack, Jr., and sister-in-law of the late David Cohen, and Carole (Collins) McCormack.

Calling hours are Sunday, Oct. 22, from 3-6 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Monday, Oct. 23, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 or to the Oblate Novitiate, 486 Chandler St., Tewksbury, MA 01876.
