Obituary

SUDBURY: Marie Mesko Taylor, wife, mother, teacher, and traveler, died at home after a period of declining health on Saturday, October 14th, 2017.
Marie was born in Zarica, Czechoslovakia (now Ukraine) on September 17th, 1936. She grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Patterson State Teacher's College. She met her husband Kenneth at an Intervarsity Christian Fellowship Weekend Camp, and they married in 1958. She taught in Grand Rapids, Minnesota; Nenana, Alaska; and in Dedham, Framingham, and Concord, Massachusetts. She and Ken had two daughters, Linda and Vickie Jean.

Marie was a longtime member of Trinitarian Congregational Church in Wayland, where she served as a deaconess and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She helped plan and traveled to Haiti on the church’s first mission trip. She was also instrumental in starting a local chapter of Christian Women's Club and became the first chairwoman. Marie served on the Framingham Community Concerts Board of Directors for many years. Marie loved to travel and visited over eighty countries and forty-nine states. She also was a wonderful cook, and her Thanksgiving tables and Christmas Eve open houses were renowned. She and Ken had friends all over the world, including international students they had befriended through Intervarsity. She loved children and teaching and her kindergarten classroom was an exciting learning-filled place.

Marie leaves her husband, Kenneth Taylor of Sudbury and her daughter Linda Taylor and her husband David Trumble of Weare, NH as well as her "favourite grandson" Benjamin and "favourite granddaughter" Emma also of Weare, NH and a sister, Debby Dixon of Hillsborough, NJ. She was predeceased by her daughter Vickie Jean Taylor, her parents, Andrew and Mary (Buleza) Mesko, and a sister, Ruth Batchelor.

Following cremation, private interment will be in Newtown Cemetery in Sudbury. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinitarian Congregational Church, 53 Cochituate Road (Rte. 27/126), Wayland on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 am.
