Obituary

Danny (Damianos) Peter Laskaris of Canton, MA and West Palm Beach, FL, formerly of Needham, MA passed away at home peacefully on Sunday, October 15 surrounded by his family. He was 93 years “young”.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years , Vasilia (Soutsos), his three daughters, Stavra Laskaris (Giallousis) of Stoughton, MA, Evangeline & her husband Dean Calivas of Medfield, MA , Maria & her husband Demetrios Promousas of Canton, MA. He was Brother to the late Nancy Angelopulos, Angelo Laskaris & Theodora Giouras.

Deeply loved and admired, Danny will also be missed by his grandchildren, Nicholas Giallousis and his fiancé Kristin, Daniella Giallousis, Andrew Calivas & his wife Nicole, Matthew Calivas, Damon Calivas , Athena Stevenson, Kosma, Marthalaney & Kristy Promousas. Danny is also survived by many nieces, nephews, as well as grandnieces & grand nephews who lovingly referred to him as “ Gruncle Danny”. He captured everyone’s heart with his charismatic smile and contagious laughter.

Born in Boston, raised in Vassaras, Laconia, Greece, Danny returned to the US after WWII, where he met his beloved wife Vasilia (Soutsos) of Chicago, IL. Together they raised their family in Jamaica Plain and Needham, Massachusetts.

Danny worked for many years as a leading insurance auditor in the state of Massachusetts, later founding his own company, Insurance Premium Auditor s Group (IPAG). An active member of both the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Boston and St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Weston, MA, Danny was involved in many philanthropic endeavors which included dedicated volunteer work at the Philoxenia House in Brookline, Mass. In addition to his past involvements with the AHEPA and Laconian Societies, Danny served as a past President of the Vassara Society of Boston.

Passionate about life itself, he was always laughing, story-telling, and dancing. His big presence will be missed by all.
Funeral on Thursday, October 19th at 10:00 AM at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St., Weston, MA. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Please go directly to church. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home | 1305 Highland Ave., Needham, MA 02492. Burial in Needham Cemetery, Needham.
