New Bedford – Manuel Garcia, 82, of New Bedford, formerly of Acushnet passed away at home on October 11, 2017.
Mr. Garcia was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, son of the late John and Maria (Isabella) Garcia, and resided in Acushnet for the past 35 years prior to recently moving to New Bedford. He was a member and a Pastor of The Universal Church. He was employed as a machine operator by Sippican Inc. until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, doing handyman work, watching television and was an avid hockey fan.
Survivors include his children: Danny Garcia, Manny Garcia and Monica Sousa Abernathy; 2 sisters: Iria Teves and Ilda Martin; his godchild: Patrick Pimentel; 5 grandchildren; his caring extended family: Idalina Pimentel, Priscilla McHale, Anna Jardin, Marco Pimentel and Lucy Pimentel; and many nieces & nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, Ocotber 16, 2017, 6:00-9:00 P.M. at the Kirby Funeral Home, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 10:00 A.M.
Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
