…active at the Tewksbury Senior Center; 91
TEWKSBURY - Mrs. Ellen L. (Broderick) Doucette, age 91, a well known member of Tewksbury’s Senior Community, died peacefully Friday morning, October 13, at Blaire House of Tewksbury, surrounded by her beloved family. She was wife for fifty-five years of Arthur F. Doucette Sr., who died in August 2001, and worked tirelessly with her husband during his years of service to the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Lodge, and Reading V.F.W.
She was born in East Boston in December 1925, a daughter of the late Paul and Sarah (Stone) Broderick and was raised in Medford. After her marriage to Arthur, they moved to Reading, and settled in Tewksbury in 1957.
She was a former member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club, active at the Tewksbury Senior Center where she was a regular at Cribbage, well known in the area Bingo circuit, who eagerly anticipated her next trip to Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut.
Ellen was lovingly described by her family as a beautiful, happy, special person who touched all who met her with her kindness and generosity of spirit, warm and comforting nature, who was often witty and comical and preached the value of a laugh a day.
She leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Jack Whitman and Pauline and Connie Barry all of Tewksbury; two sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur F. and Deborah Doucette Jr. of FL, and Dana and Debbie Doucette of Methuen; twelve grandchildren and their spouses, Jeffrey and Lynnette Whitman of Westford, David and Sherrie Whitman of Middleton, Allyson and Christopher Armstrong, Maryellen and Mathew Hirtle, Brian and Maya Brooks all of Tewksbury, Arthur and Heather Doucette III of NC, Kim and Chad Sandmann of AK, Lori and Mark Snyder of IN, Clayton and Kerri Patles of Plaistow, NH, John and Misty Patles of Londonderry, NH, Jessica and Tom Szweda and Nicole and Justin Baker all of Derry, NH; twenty-four great grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Broderick of FL; a sister-in-law, Norma Doucette of ME; her unofficially adopted daughter, Dale Damian of Tewksbury; and was preceded in death by her son-in-law, James E. Brooks, and brothers, Richard Broderick and Paul Broderick.
Visiting hours Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph.
