Obituary

Lydia (DeValle,Tannar) Balcom, 81, of Natick, Massachusetts, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017, after a brief illness.

Lydia was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 16, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Rufino and Lydia DeValle formerly of Natick, MA. She graduated from Natick High School in 1953.

Lydia was a kind woman, a loving mother and wife who spoiled her grandchildren without complaint. She loved the beach, vacationing with her husband, and relaxing with a good book. Lydia enjoyed playing golf, bowling and cooking. She loved to entertain for the holidays with the whole family. Lydia loved "her" Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, and she hardly ever missed watching or discussing a game. If you really wanted to be in the know about the game, players, stats, trades, etc., you called "Lyd." She had the most generous, loving heart and touched many lives with her presence. Her family and friends will always be thankful for the gift that was her life, and she will be incredibly missed by all who knew her.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband William Balcom; her son Tom Tannar and his wife Beth of Ft. Lauderdale FL, her son Steve Tannar and his wife Betty and granddaughter Riley of West Hartford, CT, her son Kurt Tannar and his wife Jessica and granddaughter Cassandra of Hopkinton, MA, her son Ray Tannar and his wife Donna of Shrewsbury, MA, her daughter Kristine Weddle and her husband Dan and grandsons Dylan and Gavin of Natick, MA. She will also be cherished by stepson Bill Balcom and his wife Sharon and step grandchildren Ben and Bethany of Southborough, MA, stepson Mark Balcom and his wife Carol and step grandsons Lucas and Jacob of Sudbury, MA, stepson Brian Balcom and Mardi Chadwick and step granddaughters Jessica and Allison of Newburyport, MA, stepson Mike Balcom and his wife Karen and step grandchildren Jordan, Jackson and Danny of Natick, MA, stepdaughter Jeanne McGovern and her husband Charles and step grandchildren Wes and Molly of Falls Church, VA; her sister Mary Taddeo of West Yarmouth, MA, her sister Mildred Donovan of Milford, MA; her brother Bob DeValle and his wife Sylvia of West Palm Beach, FL; several nieces, nephews and step great-grandchildren.
