Obituary

Worcester – Allen W. Parks PhD, 66, of Worcester, died on Sunday, October 1st un the UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus after an illness.

Dr. Parks was born in Worcester, however he spent his childhood years in Whitinsville, MA where he attended and graduated from Northbridge High School. Upon completion of high school, he furthered his education at Assumption College where he attained a Masters Degree in Psychology, Harvard University where he attained another Masters Degree in Public Health and later Attained Boston University where he earned his Doctorate of Education in Humanistic and Behavioral Studies.

Dr. Parks was a loving and generous father and grandfather to his son, Alexander Parks and his wife Erin and their children Brycen and Benjamin of Haverhill, MA. He is also survived by his sister, Lois Lachapelle and her husband Edward and two nephews, Jeffrey and Jonathan Lachapelle.

Dr. Parks held various positions throughout his career, including Director of Counseling and Testing at Landmark School in Danvers in the 70’s, Coordinator of Mental Retardation of the Commonwealth of MA Department of Mental Health in the 80’s and Program Director of Behavioral Health for Lowell General Hospital in the early 90’s.

He was a talented musician and played both the guitar and the drums for over 40 years. Dr. Parks could also be found cooking in the kitchen, or tending to plants with his excellent green thumb, these talents were learned from his mother at a young age. Dr. Parks was a worldwide traveler attending many fine art museums while abroad. His passion for music brought him to countless concerts, and he enjoyed watching and following his New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He often would take trips to the beach, where he enjoyed spending time fishing and just the calming nature of being at the ocean.
