Obituary

Fernand A. Blais, 92, passed away on Wednesday October 4, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Ruth (Adam) Blais for 67 years. They were married on September 4, 1950.
Born in Manville on November 7, 1924 he was a son of the late Donat and Denise (Bedard) Blais. He was a lifelong resident of Lincoln.
Mr. Blais served in the United States Navy during WWII.
He was employed at Pontiac Weaving for over 30 years until retiring in 1987.
Mr. Blais was a lifelong communicant of St. James Church and life member of the Alphonse Yelle Post #9 American Legion in Manville. He was also a member of the Golden Agers of Manville & Albion, the St. Agatha senior citizens club and the AARP. His hobbies included gardening, playing cards, bowling and reading. He was a staunch Patriots fan and had a special place in his heart for animals especially horses.
Fern will be remembered as a devoted husband and father and an outgoing and friendly gentleman.
In addition to his wife of 67 years he is survived by a son Ronald L. Blais and his wife Janet. He was the brother of the late Paul, Gerard, Romeo, Richard, Bernard, Rene and Maurice Blais, Laurette Riel and Florence Letendre. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday October 14, 2017 at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
