Obituary

John R. Dupont, 93, of Taunton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 7th.

He was the husband of the late Dorothy "Dolly" (Benevides) Dupont. Born in Berkley, son of the late John A. and Emily S. (Silva) Dupont.

John attended the Walker School and played in many sports there. A World War II Veteran of the U.S. Navy, he worked at Glenwood Range Co. until it closed, then went to school for carpentry. John owned his own business and worked all over MA and RI. For many years he helped with Boy Scouts, Troop 21; was very active at Our Lady of Lourdes Church and School and was a member of the Holy Ghost Feast Society. He was in the family band, Ora and enjoyed playing guitar and working in the yard. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

John is survived by his children, John R. Dupont and his wife Denise of Norton, and Mark A. Dupont and his wife Sharon of Taunton; sister, Mary "Mae" Joaquim of Taunton; brothers, Edward Dupont and his wife Joan of Raynham and Richard D. Dupont of New Bedford; grandchildren, Kim Fournier, Heather Dupont, Tim Dupont, Paul Taber, Scott Taber and Morgan Dupont; great grandchildren, Meagan, Shawn, Nicolas and Ethan; great great grandchildren, Chase and Isabella and several nieces and nephews. He was also father of the late Cynthia Martin and brother of the late Daniel R. Dupont and Everett J. Dupont.

Funeral Wednesday at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, with Mass to follow in Annunciation of the Lord Church at 9:30am. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00pm.
