Obituary

Eileen A. (Melton) Locke, a 23 year resident of Charlestown and formerly of Medford and Cambridge, entered into eternal life on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Spaulding Hospital in Cambridge. She was 74 years old.

Eileen was born in Cambridge on June 28, 1943, a daughter of the late James Allen and Ellen (Silk) Allen. She grew up in Cambridge where she was educated in the Cambridge Public School system and graduated from Burlington High School. Eileen enlisted into the United States Air Force on August 5, 1963 and served her country faithfully and with courage during the Vietnam Conflict. She was honorably discharged on May 22, 1964 with the rank of Airman Third Class. Eileen was a homemaker who took great pride taking care of her family. She was very interested in her family genealogy and enjoyed gardening. She is a member of the Abraham Lincoln Post # 11 of Charlestown and Bunker Hill V.F.W. Post # 26 of Charlestown. Eileen was named Chief Marshall of the Bunker Hill Day Parade in 2013.

Eileen is the beloved wife of the late George L. Locke. She is the devoted mother of James Melton, Eileen Moreira, Michael Melton and the late Timothy Melton and Matthew Melton. She is the loving Grandmother to Jimmy, Karissa, Taylor, Eddy and the late Davian and also her great-grandsons Timothy and Ian. She is the beloved sister of James Allen and his wife Diane and the late Patricia White.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eileen's visiting hours on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 3 to 7 P.M. with her Funeral Service at 6:30 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial at the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne will be private.
