Obituary


Mr. Raymond F. Ross, Jr. age 94, a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully October 4, 2017, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington following a lengthy period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of the late Clare A. (Brine) Ross. Born in Woburn he was the son of the late Raymond F. and Eleanor (Taylor) Ross, Sr.

Raymond was a 1940 graduate of Woburn High School where excelled as a member of both the Baseball and Basketball teams. In 1943 he enlisted into the United States Navy and honorably served until his discharge in 1945. Raymond worked for most of his adult life as a sales person. He served the City of Woburn as an Alderman for ward 6 in the 1960's. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anthony Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society and also volunteered as an usher. He was an avid Boston sports fan and particularly enjoyed the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins, seldom missing a game. Prior to his wife's death, together they enjoyed square dancing for many years and were members of the Skirts' n Flirts Square Dance Club of Wilmington.

He is survived by his devoted children, Raymond F. Ross III and wife Patricia of Brookline, NH, Nancy Rogers and husband David of Billerica, Sally Sterling of Bedford, NH, Daniel W. Ross and wife Carol of Reading, and Richard P. Ross of Woburn. He was the loving grandfather of Matthew, Gregory, and Michael Ross, Christine Rogers, David Rogers Jr., Susan Perrier, Andrew and MaKayla Sterling, Caroline and Brian Ross. Loving great grandfather of David Rogers III, Timothy and Melissa Rogers, Brendon and Brett Perrier, Jackson, Gabrielle, Peter, John, Nathaniel, Eleanor, Alexander and Abraham Ross. Brother of June G. Ross of Woburn.

Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN Saturday, October 7th, at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the Mass from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Raymond's memory to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
