Betty M. (Michelini) Donahue
Betty M. Donahue passed away on October 2, 2017 at the age of 89. Formerly of Needham, New Seabury, and Stuart, FL and most recently of Westwood. Betty was born in Brookline MA, on April 10th, 1928, the daughter of the late Adam J. and Marion E. (Ingalls) Michelini. She was the wife of the late Thomas F. Donahue for nearly sixty years. She attended the Devotion School in Coolidge Corner and was a 1945 graduate of Brookline High School as well as Boston University in 1949. Betty went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Education in 1953 at the Boston University School of Education. She was married to her high school sweetheart and best friend on December 12, 1953. A long-time educator in the Lexington, Boston, and Mashpee school systems as well as at St. John’s in Canton. Tom and Betty enjoyed traveling together and were avid Boston College football fans. Betty also enjoyed reading and playing the piano. She loved to entertain friends playing the piano at The Popponesset Inn, Miles Grant, and countless other parties and get togethers. She often found a way to sneak a few favorites in such as “When the Saints Go Marching In” and “For Boston”. She is survived by her children, Thomas Donahue and his wife Anne of Vernon, CT, Patty Donahue and her husband Greg Sacca of Gloucester, MA, Nancy and her husband Chris (Bo) Mihos of North Easton, MA. Katherine Kelleher of Walpole, MA and John Donahue and his wife Lynn of Wellesley, MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Casey and Haley Donahue, Christopher Sacca, Melissa and Jim Mihos, Jackie, P.J., John and Timmy Kelleher, Catherine, Charlie and Grace Donahue. Also survived by her brother Bradford Michelini of Latham, NY and her brother in law and his wife, Bob and Sally Donahue of Falmouth, MA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Christ the King Church, 3 Job’s Fishing Rd., Mashpee, on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 11:00am. Visitation will be held in the church Thursday morning beginning at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow at Great Neck Woods Cemetery in Mashpee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boston College Flynn Fund in memory of Thomas F. Donahue, Class of 1951, Boston College Athletic Development, 140 Commonwealth Ave. #320, Conte Forum, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
