Obituary

Amelia A. (Veiga) Youngblood, 93, passed away on Saturday September 30, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Julian E. T. Youngblood.

Born in Burlington, MA, the daughter of the late Manuel M. Veiga and Julia (Lomba) DeBarros, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

Mrs. Youngblood was a lifelong member of the International Church of the Nazarene, where she had served as treasurer and board member.

She enjoyed reading and doing arts and crafts. She was devoted to her entire family.

She is survived by her children, Edward "Buster" Costa and his companion Kathy Silva, Doreen Sylvia and her husband Donald, and Brenda Summers; her stepchildren, James Youngblood and his wife Elizabeth, Barry Youngblood, Winifred Pina, and Wendy Depina and her husband Charles; her stepdaughter-in-law, Joan Youngblood; her step-siblings, Charlotte Williams, Jeannette Barboza, and John DeBarros; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was the stepmother of the late Julian Youngblood, and sister of the late Joseph Veiga, Lena Pina, Manuel Veiga, and Rose Veiga.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday October 5, 2017 at 9:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-7 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
